At Wild Mountain Adventures the common denominator is strengthening peoples' connections with Nature through meaningful experiences in Nature. We invite you to join us, Lance and Sarah, to help you step out of your everyday and into the simple restorative power of the shoreside farm and forests we call home.
Experience the magic of our horses: Either on the ground during contemplative horse connection experiences lead by Sarah, or on their backs as we traverse the coastal forest trails and shoreside pastures of the farm, our horses offer a natural and automatic reminder of their ancient importance to our lives.
Traditional Archery: Hone your skills and connect with bow and arrows in this time-honored part of the human story. We offer entry points to traditional archery as a delightful hobby or therapeutic endeavor, as a traditional means for hunting, and even as an ancient martial art practiced on the backs of horses through our club, Seawinds Horse Archers.
Pasture-Raised Livestock: Take your local food connection to the next level by spending time with our livestock at Wild Mountain Farm and witnessing how traditional farm animals can live their best lives. Or, explore a unique extended journey where you can own and deeply connect to the lives of the animals that will become your food while we care for them through the seasons on the farm.
The Forest: Many days of the wintertime for Lance are spent in the forest here, often with a chainsaw and a horse, wood cutting and sawmilling and creating building projects for local customers from the harvest. Twenty five years ago, Lance started a project that lead to the creation of an important book: Restoring the Acadian Forest. Using low-Impact approaches to forest harvesting set in the explicit context of Acadian Forest Restoratio, we offer one day each winter to share exactly what we do and why we do it. From tree selection to harvest and extraction by horse, to the sawmill and finally to the creation of a building project. That day for 2025 is set for Saturday, February 1st.
